Optimization: what is the largest rectangle you can inscribe in a circle

Sometime a little of back of envelope math is useful, no?

  1. The largest rectangle that can be inscribed in a circle is a square of side (radius * 2^0.5)

  3. In case of circle with radius 1 unit, largest rectangle inscribed in it will be a square with side (2^0.5).

    Anything unusual here?
